Throughout the past week in ISM I made progress on my original work and went on a mentor visit on Friday. I accomplished six and a half hours on my product log by setting up and adding to my spreadsheet which listed the different employer-sponsored visas available in the United States. I looked more into the E category of visas and also set up a standard with the H-1B visas in terms of categories. I looked specifically into the E1 visa which is very broad. It deals with international trade which can be defined in many ways. I found that this could not necessarily be an employer-sponsored visa if the visa holder owned a business and decided to operate in the country. It applies to my research in the form of contracted work from a larger company which would want to sponsor the potential services of that individual.
In my mentor visit, I discussed where my final product was heading and I also learned about dealing with the hierarchy of subcontractors to a company. I had the opportunity to speak with most of Mrs. Wiemann’s team on my mentor visit and I got a deeper look at WorldLink’s partnerships and how law applies in a corporate setting. It is the lawyer’s job to ensure that the subcontractors are following the terms of the original contract. They are also tasked with updating the contacts yearly.
