This past week in ISM I learned more about employment-sponsored immigration and I was able to apply this information in my mentor visit on Friday. I looked into H-1B visas in more depth and found out more of the strict regulations involved in getting a visa approved and the steps necessary to increase the chances that a candidate can get the opportunity to work in the country.
In my mentor visit, I had the opportunity to see the development of an H-1B package for the immigration office. I got to see a new aspect concerning the transfer H-1B application and I learned about the different documents that can increase the likelihood of approval as well as the required forms and paperwork for this process. In the next week, I plan to research more into additional types of visas such as the L-class. I want to get a basic knowledge of the different types of visas before diving deeply into the research for my final product. I am also going to update my product proposal to include the idea of an interview with immigrants from the two countries I am looking at, the United States and Japan. I would include this information on my website on a page separate from my flowcharts and descriptions of the different visas.
