The Research Showcase at The Star was the major event in ISM this week and I was also able to have a mentor visit and worked with a new member of Mrs. Wiemann’s legal team. I was able to walk around and see many student’s boards and topics before the event actually started. It was interesting to see what other students had on their display boards who had similar topics to me in terms of corporate law and international law. I also found that some students are studying a specific area of law that I had not previously given much thought to, such as patent law. My mentor and a member of the legal team were able to attend the Research Showcase and I was able to introduce them to my friends and family members. It was rewarding to get to tell people about my experiences in ISM which is reflective of the amount of work I have put into the course over the first semester.

I also had a mentor visit on Friday where I was able to learn more about immigration law and litigation. I mainly got to see how paperwork is handled with the immigration aspect of a business that hires international employees, which involves strict governmental regulations and careful review of documents. I was able to see specifically, the purpose and function of an I-9 form and how this relates to the status of an individual’s employment.
